Physician's Therapy Group (PTG Pediatric Therapy) was founded by Janet Montgomery, M.A., CCC-SLP. She’s a Speech-Language Pathologist who grew up on an Arkansas cotton farm near the bootheel of Missouri in the 1950's and early 1960's. Mrs. Janet learned early on the values of hard work and helping others in her community.
After nearly losing their farm during the Great Depression, Mrs. Janet's grandparents taught their family by example to do what you can for others. Whether slipping a little extra cash in pay envelopes for farm workers whose families were going through hard times or leaving food on their porch so families that were a little short on groceries could discreetly help themselves without having to ask for help, the family rule was to help others without seeking recognition for doing so. Although Mrs. Janet's family home didn't even have indoor toilets until she was in junior high, helping others meant more to them than benefiting themselves.
From the early days of her career in helping several Arkansas school districts develop and establish their special services programs, to working with children and adults at hospitals and rural health clinics, to working as a rehabilitation manager in skilled nursing facilities, to solo private practice, to founding our company in 2004; Mrs. Janet's career has always been about providing the best services to fit the needs of patients and their families regardless of financial status.
Today, as the most experienced Speech-Language Pathologist in Arkansas, Mrs. Janet is continuing her 50+ year legacy by providing leadership to our team of therapists and ensuring they have the tools and skills necessary to continue to provide the best in expert care for the children and families we serve in our clinic and in community-based settings around NWA.
Our formal name of Physician's Therapy Group, PLLC, gets its origins from the ethos that our services are provided under the direction and overall treatment plan of a patient's primary care provider. That is to say, our therapy services are provided at the direction of the patient's physician. These days, most people know us by our informal name, PTG Pediatric Therapy, which makes it more clear that our focus is on pediatrics.
